Guild Delegates at Council 36 Convention 2013

The Librarians’ Guild sent a great team to the 2013 AFSCME Council 36 Convention in Manhattan Beach (Oct. 18-20). The team included Kian Daizadeh, Ruth Seid, Henry Gambill, Joyce Cooper, Sheila Nash, Lisa Valdez, Selena Terrazas, and Roy Stone (who was relected, yet again, to serve as Treasurer of Council 36. Go Roy!).

Our American Healthcare System: What went wrong?

AFSCME Council 36 Committee for Universal Health Care invites you to join a Healthcare presentation:

Our American Healthcare System: What went wrong? How do we fix it? How do we Finish the Job?

Many of us feel fortunate to have decent employer-based or retiree healthcare coverage. But as premiums continue to rise faster than inflation, it is clear our health plans are not sustainable, secure or just. The Affordable Care Act will help many but does little to help union healthcare negotiations. This program will discuss our broken healthcare system, the ACA and how we can finish the job and make healthcare a right for all.

Presenters: Kathy Rallings, Health Benefits Specialist, Calif. Teachers Association (CTA)

Lenny Potash, Co-Chair, Labor United for Universal Healthcare Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. 3rd floor Conference Room, 514 Shatto Pl., Los Angeles

Light dinner will be provided!
